  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This dissertation aimed to analyze how social innovation ecosystems contribute to the development of business models based on the circular economy, considering the articulation between actors, public policies, and local socio-environmental practices. The dissertation is structured in three articles. The first article seeks to understand how the circular economy and social innovation have been connected in the academic debate, identifying theoretical approaches, gaps, and opportunities for further study. To this end, a bibliometric study was conducted analyzing 98 articles from the Web of Science database. The research reveals the connection between the themes, but highlights that this relationship has not yet been sufficiently explored. The second article aimed to propose a framework that allows understanding the role of social innovation ecosystems in promoting circular economy business models. The theoretical model was structured from an integrative literature review that identified the dimensions and categories that make up the framework. The dimensions identified were: drivers, actors, benefits, and challenges. The dimensions are not isolated and relate to each other in several ways. Finally, the third article aimed to present and validate, with experts, a framework that allows us to understand the role of social innovation ecosystems in promoting circular economy business models. The dimensions and categories were expanded, making the model more comprehensive.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This study analyzes the sustainability of coffee tourism in the municipality of Areia-PB, considering the context of the revival of coffee cultivation in the Brejo region of Paraíba and the emergence of coffee tourism as a strategy for territorial development, given the need to assess whether this process occurs in alignment with the principles of sustainable development. The main objective of the study is to analyze the sustainability of coffee tourism in Areia-PB through the application of the Tourism Development Sustainability Indicators System (SISDTur), proposed by Hanai (2009), adapted to local specificities. Methodologically, the study adopts a quantitative approach of an exploratory and descriptive nature, configured as a single case study. Primary data were collected through structured questionnaires using a Likert scale, applied to social actors involved in the activity — coffee producers, representatives of the public sector, the private sector, and civil society — complemented by non-participant observation and statistical analysis, including reliability testing using Cronbach’s Alpha and non-parametric tests such as Friedman and Bonferroni. The results indicate that coffee tourism in Areia presents an intermediate level of sustainability, with better performance in the cultural and economic dimensions and lower performance in the environmental dimension, as well as structural weaknesses in the institutional dimension, indicating statistically significant differences among the analyzed dimensions. It is concluded that, although the tourism product is still in the early stages of consolidation as a structured segment, the level of sustainability measured by SISDTur reveals intermediate sustainable foundations and potential for further development, provided that the municipality strengthens governance, strategic planning, environmental monitoring, and integration among local stakeholders.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The objective of this dissertation is to understand the learning process of students in a graduate program in administration specializing in sustainability, from the perspective of transformative learning. The research was supported by three specific objectives, which can be perceived as: identifying the transformative learning process in the dimension of meaning perspectives; understanding the transformative learning process in the dimension of learning domain; and verifying the types of reflection adopted by the graduate students in the learning process. Through the analyzed discourses, it was possible to delimit the findings by level of depth, from the simplest to the most direct and profound discourses. In this way, the presented objectives were achieved, revealing pertinent changes, such as behaviors, the construction of new thoughts, reflective processes, and the breaking of reference frames. In defining the methodological approach, a basic interpretative qualitative study was chosen, based on Merriam (2009) and Merriam and Tisdell (2016). The choice of a qualitative approach allowed for flexibility and the use of open-ended questions to encourage free participation from those involved. Data collection employed a semi-structured interview guide (Godoy, 2006) with questions based on Mezirow's (2000) three dimensions. Interpretive data analysis (Silva, 2005) was used to understand the data.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The fashion industry has faced criticism for its socio-environmental impacts, which has driven the emergence ofslow fashion as a sustainable alternative. Despite this advancement, the adoption of this consumption modelinvolves complex dynamics in which social and psychological factors interact and influence both purchase andpost-purchase behavior. In this context, this dissertation investigates how informational and normativeinfluences affect slow fashion consumption behavior, considering consumer inertia and materialism. Structuredinto three empirical articles, the research employs structural equation modeling and Social Influence Theoryacross all studies, in addition to incorporating Self-Concept Theory and Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA) inthe third article. The first article examined the role of social influences in slow fashion consumption, revealingthat informational influence is positively related only to hedonic attitudes, while both hedonic and utilitarianattitudes are positively related to purchase intention, with the effect of hedonic attitudes being more robust as aresult of informational influence. The second article investigated the existence of barriers between attitude andpurchase intention, indicating that inertia and materialism do not exert a significant moderating effect on thisrelationship, whereas hedonic attitudes mediate the relationship between informational influence and purchaseintention. The third article analyzed post-purchase behavior, demonstrating that informational influencepositively affects self-congruence, which, in turn, is positively related to satisfaction, confirmed through NCA asa necessary condition for repurchase intention. Taken together, the studies show that slow fashion consumptionis predominantly driven by informational processes and hedonic dimensions, which extend from the moment ofpurchase to the post-purchase stage. By integrating different approaches to understanding slow fashionconsumption, this dissertation highlights the importance of practical strategies grounded in informationallearning and emotional dimensions, contributing to managerial decision-making and public policies aimed atpromoting more conscious and enduring consumption patterns.
