Funding Sources for Entrepreneurship in an Innovation Ecosystem
Entrepreneurship; Funding Sources; Innovation Ecosystem.
This dissertation, entitled “Funding Sources for Entrepreneurship in an Innovation Ecosystem,” aims to analyze the state of the art of research on entrepreneurship financing, the types of financing present in the innovation ecosystem of Paraíba, and the challenges, difficulties, and benefits perceived by entrepreneurs in accessing alternative credit. The research problem seeks to understand how small and medium-sized enterprises manage to raise financial resources in the alternative credit modality within the Paraíba ecosystem. The research will be structured in three complementary scientific articles. The first article will consist of a bibliometric study in the Web of Science database, covering the period from 2021 to 2025, with the objective of mapping the state of the art on entrepreneurship financing, identifying dominant areas, most influential authors, and regions of greatest scientific interest. The second article will adopt an applied case study to map sources and types of public and private financing available to small innovative enterprises in Paraíba, using semi-structured interviews with key actors from financial institutions and investors, in addition to document analysis. The third article will develop a descriptive qualitative case study to analyze the asymmetries in knowledge and appropriation of funding sources by entrepreneurs within the Paraíba innovation ecosystem, through semi-structured interviews and document analysis. It is expected to contribute to strengthening the regional innovation ecosystem and improving policies and mechanisms for financing entrepreneurship.
